The Thursday Dispatch - June 19, 2025

I’ve been on my own again for about eight months now. One of the things I told myself I was going to do was to get into the shows and movies that interest me, but never did. When I live with someone, I tend to want to meet in the middle, thinking I have to do these kinds of things with them. But I end up not taking time for myself as a result. It’s one of my bad habits, I know.
In the time since, I’ve done little of what I said I would. Instead, I gravitate towards sports or my latest obsessions, storm chasing, as I find it convenient, I suppose. These things allow me to drift, basically making them background noise as much as anything else. I don’t have to commit to them by fully paying attention. I can dabble with my phone or whatever else steals my attention. So, I’ve barely watched any shows or movies in eight months.
Recently, a friend of mine posted their weekly schedule of meals they’re going to eat for the week and the shows they’re going to watch on each night. I’ve seen meal planning many times over. But show planning? I’m intrigued. We’re basically looking at at least one episode of one or two shows. Maybe another night is movie night. Put it down and plan it out. I feel like this is something I could do in my journal at the beginning of the week.
I want to enjoy shows like this. I feel like it would be good for me, especially over fiddling with my phone. Besides, I’ve already blocked off most communications from my phone after 7 p.m. This is part of the reason why. So I can do other things.

For the first time in a few weeks, we got some storm activity here in the Omaha metro. Nothing bad, but some much needed rain for sure. I always joke during College World Series week it’s either going to rain or push 100°F. It looks like this week it’s going to do both.

Songs in the Chaos
This is my weekly list of songs that either caught my attention or came to mind this past week. I post these throughout the week on a site called Crucial Tracks, where they’re also added to a playlist on Apple Music. Feel free to follow me on either space.
