Daniel Caesar - Son of Spergy

Daniel Caesar refuses to be boxed in. Just on the fourth track of this album, “Baby Blue”, it weaves in and out of sounds, in ways reminding me of something from the Beatles, other times giving me tastes of Andre 3000-forward OutKast tracks. Overall, the album ranges from gospel (the album is named after David’s gospel-singer father), to soul, to alt-R&B, to alt-rock.

This goes on top of Caesar being a talented singer and writer. He’s much more free-range in this album, and that’s to his benefit. The best music comes from honesty, and I’m feeling that here.
