On Tracking TV Shows

I’d share what I watch, but, yeah…

Let me first say, I’m horrible at keeping up with TV series. Maybe I just need a friend to watch shows with that I can talk about the show with as I go along. You know, kind of like a book club, but for TV or movies.

I’ve been attracted to media tracking apps and services. There are quite a few good apps for tracking your media diet like Quick Reviews, Sequel, and a few others. There are websites like Trakt (for TV shows) and Letterboxd (for movies) that are also good. But, none of these have been able to stick with me. Frankly, if any of these could hook into my Apple TV queue automatically, that would be the most surefire way of me achieving any of this.

But, then there’s the whole scoring system. I honestly don’t know what to say when it comes to scoring a TV show or movie. Either I liked it or I didn’t. It doesn’t get that much deeper for me. Now, this is coming from the guy that used to rate music on a star system in iTunes, to the point those scores would dictate what songs made my playlists and how often they got played. But even now with music, it either gets a favorite or nothing at all.

Now, I still plan on sharing album reviews on here once I get back into the flow a little bit. I’ll admit the Mariners being in a playoff race and some work fatigue have steered me away from things a little bit. But, when it comes to visual media, I just can’t get into it enough to care about giving any of it a rating or keeping track of what I’ve watched. It doesn’t mean I won’t attempt it again. Just don’t expect any long-term success.
