The Thursday Dispatch - 23 October 2025
I’ve had this past week off, and I’ve needed every bit of it. It’s been a difficult and frustrating month at work. It’s been a lot of being shorthanded while still getting a ton of workload, having other processes pull my people away, and having interference in trying to rebound. I hate when things at work start breaking. It’s even worse when multiple things start to break. It’s then I try to fix everything all at once, which ultimately results in nothing working out.
So, it’s been nice to get away. I always take my birthday week off now that I have a ton of vacation time to burn. This is my time to rest before ramping up into the fourth quarter and powering through Thanksgiving and Christmas. It’s a two-month sprint, and I’ll have my work cut out for me when I get back.
Yesterday was the first day where I was able to sit in peace. Saturday, I had to drive an hour to attend a gathering for my mom, who’s also celebrating a birthday this week. Sunday was spent winding myself down the way I wish I would have done on Saturday. Monday was my birthday, and everything that happened (or didn’t happen) with that. Tuesday, I drove back to Lincoln to celebrate my mom’s and my birthday one-on-one. It was Tuesday night when my post-stress migraine decided to visit me. All of that is to say I was happy for yesterday, which was about as easygoing as I can ask for.
As I sit here now, I have two days off left, including today. Again, it’s another easygoing day ahead of me. I may meet up with a friend, but other than that, I have no plans outside of taking care of my home and myself. I’m frankly glad I have the luxury with my job to be able to take time like this off. I just hope I can actually take a vacation sometime soon. I feel like I need to head back to the Pacific Northwest sometime soon. It’s been seven years since I last visited, and I miss that environment. Maybe I’ll finally get my passport and go to Canada this time. I’m really curious what Vancouver is like.
So, that’s been my past week. I still hope to get into some music before I go back to work. Maybe tomorrow. I also have some other thoughts bouncing around in my head that I’ll hopefully turn into something. I’ve been enjoying the stillness I’m dealing with right now, though.

Songs in the Chaos
This is my weekly list of songs that either caught my attention or came to mind this past week. I post these throughout the week on a site called Crucial Tracks, where they’re also added to a playlist on Apple Music. Feel free to follow me on either space.
