Give yourself some grace.

It took me a while to get to writing today. I slept like crap after staying up late while watching the Seattle Mariners win their first division championship in 24 years. Then I woke up at 5 AM because that’s what my brain likes to do to me on my day off. Then there’s my sinuses going nuts today. It was to the point I didn’t know if my headache today was from sleep deprivation, dehydration, sinus issues, stress, or all of the above. Finally, at 8PM, I feel decent and aware of my surroundings. I have the Seahawks game on and I feel relaxed.

I try to stay on course with these Thursday posts. Part of it is an exercise in discipline. But, when you feel like crap, you feel like crap. It’s fully ok to give yourself some grace when you’re not at your best. There would be no crime in me saving this post until Friday or Saturday if that’s what it came down to. It would be ok if I skipped a week as well. Lord knows I’ve gotten away from some of the other projects I had going for this site.

Quite simply, take care of yourselves. That’s my post this week.

Weekly Photo

I was playing around with the camera on the iPhone 17 Pro Max this morning. I really missed having a telephoto lens. There’s so much I want to play with now that I have a lot more versatility with the camera in my pocket.

This Past Week

  • iPhone 17 Pro - Everyone’s a Photographer Now - Peter McKinnon tests the camera capabilities of the new iPhone 17 Pro by setting up and photographing various product shots, comparing the results to those taken with a $7,000 Canon R5 camera and a 28–70 lens. He may have a professional setup, but the results are great irregardless.
  • Mariners clinch first AL West crown in 24 years - The iPod hadn’t been announced yet the last time the Mariners won their division. Rooting for this team builds character. But last night felt really, really satisfying.

Songs in the Chaos

This is my weekly list of songs that either caught my attention or came to mind this past week. I post these throughout the week on a site called Crucial Tracks, where they’re also added to a playlist on Apple Music. Feel free to follow me on either space.
