This is Exactly Why I Love Having a Website

I gave this site a fresh coat of paint this morning, installing a theme called Kyoto. It’s a minimalist theme with a lot going on under the hood, which gives me a lot of flexibility in what I can do with this site.
Take my “Now” page for example. Now pages, if you’re new to this concept, are a way to give an update on what’s going on from time to time. Usually, these pages will only show the most recent updates, leaving any changes from before unknown. With the structure of my “Now” page currently, you can now see any changes over time. I can only imagine what this could look like a year from now, or even years down the road.
Another thing I’ll be able to do is have a dedicated page to the books I’ve read. But, why stop there? Y’all know I love music, so why not leave the albums I’ve listened to on a dedicated page? Now I can. I’m by no means a dedicated music writer, but I should be able to leave a few paragraphs on the albums I enjoy. Again, this will be more impressive over time.
Thanks to the timeline layout this theme has, I can have the kind of link blog I’ve always wanted. The best part about this for me is that this and any of the other update types stay totally separate from my main blog, even though they all are posted the same, just tagged differently.
Being able to have a site like this is better than any social media to me. Not only can I post whatever I like here, but it’s flexible and it looks fantastic. I’d much rather look at this over Facebook any day. So, keep an eye out, as I’ll probably keep adding things in the background going forward.
Shoutout to ThemeX Studio and their theme Kyoto.
